About Us:
We're on a mission to make it possible for every person, team, and company to be able to tailor their software to solve any problem and take on any challenge. Computers may be our most powerful tools, but most of us can't build or modify the software we use on them every day. At Notion, we want to change this with focus, design, and craft.
We've been working on this together since 2016, and have customers like Pixar, Mitsubishi, Figma, Plaid, Match Group, and thousands more on this journey with us. Today, we're growing fast and excited for new teammates to join us who are the best at what they do. We're passionate about building a company as diverse and creative as the millions of people Notion reaches worldwide.
Notion is an in-person company, and currently requires its employees to come to the office for two Anchor Days (Mondays & Thursdays) and requests that employees spend the majority of their week in the office (including a third day).
About The Role:
Imagine yourself in the 1970s or 80s thinking through how computing should look and feel for people who had never seen a computer before. That's what we're trying to do at Notion — make software that feels timeless, with the craftsmanship of German cameras, playfulness of Japanese toys, and mass appeal of Coca-Cola. We have no end of fascinating challenges that can only be solved by someone with innate product & UX sense, technical aptitude, great taste, and impeccable craft.
What You'll Achieve:
- Ship a feature to Production.
- Design product concepts that balance complexity with simplicity, flexibility, and practicality.
- Help craft details of new product features, from initial ideas to visual design.
- Shadow designers, product managers, and engineers to learn about the product development process.
- Participate in meetings with our Customer Experience, Sales, and Customer Success teams to understand user needs and preferences.
- Collaborate with the Marketing team to brainstorm ideas for storytelling across various platforms.
- Learn about and contribute to our design system, focusing on creating intuitive and practical patterns.
What we’re looking for:
- You're enthusiastic about product design and eager to learn. No specific years of experience required.
- You have a good eye for aesthetics and can create visually appealing interfaces.
- You can decompose and synthesize complex problems into intuitive ideas or concepts.
- You're interested in understanding how design decisions impact business needs and user satisfaction.
- You're open-minded and receptive to feedback. You work well in collaborative environments and are eager to learn from others.
- You enjoy communicating ideas through both visual and written means.
- Expected to graduate by Dec 2025
- Must be willing to relocate to San Francisco for the duration of the internship.
Nice to Haves:
- You're eager to learn about designing and building tools in a collaborative environment.
- You bring a fresh perspective and are excited to contribute your unique ideas to the team.
- You have a basic understanding of HTML and CSS, and are interested in learning more about how design and code intersect. (Knowledge of JavaScript or AI is a bonus, but not required!)
- You're curious about how different tools work together and are interested in exploring ways to improve user experiences.
- You're enthusiastic about technology and design, and are keen to learn about influential figures in computing history.
- You have a passion for the arts or a general interest in building and creating, which you're excited to apply to software toolmaking.
